Serving their communities while building strong family ties is nothing new to members of Civil Air Patrol.  Cadets take an active role in many squadrons, training and working side by side with senior members.

Major Joseph A. Tringali, CAP, explains how he came to be involved in a great organization:
"Our son John began flying with the Civil Air Patrol when he was 15, and soloed when he was 16, the minimum possible age.  Because of the untimely death of our commanding officer, I found myself moved from legal officer to Commander of TAK Squadron.  One of the proudest days of my life was the day I pinned on John's pilot's wings.  Today, he is a C-17 pilot with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force -- and still flying.  Elizabeth is a Physician Assistant.  This newspaper article from 1989 tells the story."
