"My wife and I lived in North Palm Beach in the early 70's," Joe explains.  "It was a wonderful family-centered village with a municipal country club.  When we returned twenty years later, we were shocked at how things had changed.  The spirit of the Village was gone.  I decided to do something about that."

The "something" Tringali did was run for public office.  A political novice, he campaigned on a platform of "getting things done."  When the dust settled, he had 60% of the votes and unseated a 16-year incumbent. Over the next six years, as councilman and mayor, he helped rebuild the infrastructure of the village.  Working with the Council and citizen groups, he restored the confidence of residents and employees.  He also created a unique village holiday.

"Heritage Day was my idea," he concedes a little sheepishly.  "But the credit goes the Village Council for funding it, and to the staff -- especially the Recreation Department -- for running it.  Because of their dedication and hard work, it's become a full-feldged community weekend festival.  I'm just happy I had a part in making it happen."

Mr. Tringali is one of a small group of lawyers who have appeared in every level of court -- both state and federal -- in both Florida and New York.
