Commodore of North Palm Beach Yacht Club, 1997 and 1998 |
Founding Commodore of a boat owners association, four years as Commodore of two clubs, and Commander of a
Power Squadron: he earned the initials P/C.
P/C (for Past Commodore) Tringali spent so much time in the job, it became second nature to respond
to the word "commodore." "It's like being a father," he once said. "When you hear a kid yell, 'Dad,' you automatically
turn around." As a founding member and first commodore of the Great Lakes Chapter, Matthews Boat Owners Association,
two-term commodore of North Palm Beach Yacht Club and two-term commodore of Palm Beach Sailing Club, he is clearly a part
of the yacht club world.

Commodore of Palm Beach Sailing Club in 2003 and 2004 |
Palm Beach Sailing Club is a fully-landed, member-owned club with a club-owned fleet and a building on Florida's
Atlantic IntraCoastal Waterway. As its name implies, its members are mostly interested in sailing. North Palm
Beach Yacht Club is for the most part a power-boat club. It has no club-owned boats and no real estate, but
it has many social events and on-water activities. The Great Lakes Chapter of the Matthews Boat Owners Association
is a marque club that unites people from many distant areas in their love of Matthews boats, and limits
its activities to one or two cruises a year.
P/C Tringali says, "Being Commodore of all three clubs taught me that the distinction between "paper clubs" and
"landed clubs" is mostly artificial. Members of all clubs have a common interest in promoting the traditions of yachting. We
need to work together to preserve those traditions and hand them on intact to those who follow us."
