Joseph A. Tringali is an attorney, author, consultant and lecturer.

He has served as a mayor, councilman, yacht club commodore, and local squadron commander in both the United States Power Squadrons and Civil Air Patrol.

Here, in excerpts from his new, Third Edition of Yachting Customs and Courtesies, he calls attention to some legal issues that are important to private clubs.

Mr. Tringali received his Juris Doctor degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law, and in 1971 was admitted to practice in New York and Florida. He has served as Assistant District Attorney of Erie County, N.Y.; Assistant State Attorney for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida; and Assistant Corporation Counsel of the City of Buffalo.  In 1978 he left government service for the private practice of law, and later established the firm of Tringali and Wilson.  In 1990 he relocated to North Palm Beach with his wife and two children. Since that time, he has served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Florida.  Mr. Tringali became a member of the United States Supreme Court bar in 2005.
